Outrageous Ukrainian singer Maruv released her debut album titled “Black Water”. Maruv has become, perhaps, a new phenomenon in the R & B style in the post-Soviet space. The album opens with a composition that made them famous - “Drunk Groove”, a song with provocative overtones, about what you can get in a drunken stupor. The ETL composition has a completely different sound. Here there is an emphasis not so much on the text, which is almost unheard of, as it was on dance rhythms. You should also pay attention to the composition “Black Water” - a song about incomprehensible feelings that are clearly not friendly, but not so high as to be considered love, just wanting to be in touch without any signs of attention.
The video was also filmed for the song, though not as shocking as on “Drunk Groove”, but also quite frank in terms of clothing. The frame from this clip, by the way, became the cover for the album. A similar video was shot on the song “No Love”, where the same life situation is played up. However, if “No Love” is sung in this song, the composition “Give Me Love” is devoted to a completely different situation. Well, the album completes three bonus tracks: two songs in Ukrainian “Shukala” and “Sama” (alternative versions of “LaLaLa” and “No Love”) and a remix of the song “Focus On Me”.
In the album, the main emphasis of the singer Maruv is on dance rhythms - either deep house, or eurodance. And the songs themselves are more stylized for European trends than for Ukrainian ones. Ukrainian origin of the singer in this album give out two of her tracks in the Ukrainian language. It is possible that someday we will hear from her something in Russian, but for now we will be content with what we have.
