Mel C ‘reconsidering Spice Girls reunion – but Victoria Beckham is still having none of it’
After turning her back on a Spice Girls reunion six months ago, Mel C is reportedly now in talks with Geri Horner, Emma Bunton and Mel B to join them in a comeback show.
Sporty Spice and Posh Spice, aka Mel and Victoria Beckham, famously refused to join their former bandmates in Spice Girls spin-off group GEM, aka Geri, Emma, Mel.
Mel and Victoria apparently even called in the lawyers to stop GEM performing classic Spice Girls songs.
A source told The Sun: ‘Mel’s decision to swerve the reunion created a really frosty atmosphere. She didn’t speak to Geri, Mel and Emma for several months.’
However, Mel, 43, is apparently having second thoughts, and after celebrating Spice Girls’ debut hit Wannabe’s 21st anniversary in July, she’s said to be back on talking terms with GEM.
The source added: ‘Mel has since indicated that she might reconsider the reunion. That has obviously prompted a lot of excitement, particularly from Mel B, who knows that a reunion would really help to distract her from her ongoing divorce battle.’
However, it might take some persuading on Victoria’s behalf, as the mum-of-four is believed to still be against the idea.
Mel had previously said she would never want to see the Spice Girls reforming with less than the full line-up.
She said in 2016: ‘I kind of feel like it’s not really doing the band justice to go out as a four piece, whoever’s missing it doesn’t matter.
‘I think for me, Spice Girls, it’s like a jigsaw puzzle. It’s not the same.’
